Irvin Stallworth, the Family Services Director with Pensacola Habitat for Humanity, guided ECOH staff through the Betty and James Salter Center’s main office, located at 300 West Leonard Street. Pensacola Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical Christian organization dedicated to eliminating poverty in Escambia and Santa Rosa County. Habitat for Humanity brings families and communities together through volunteerism that builds affordable homes. Habitat families are selected based on the following three criteria; need, a willingness to partner, and ability to pay. Habitat for Humanity homes are sold with no profit margin. Homeowners contribute their time through labor hours called ’sweat equity” and house payments.
